Tue Devo Rev 8:13
"As I watched, I heard an eagle that was flying in midair call out in a loud voice: "Woe! Woe! Woe to the inhabitants of the earth, becaue of the trumpet blasts about to be sounded by the other three angels."
This whole chapter is about God's judgment being to take place on those who did not have the seal of God on them. Literally their whole world begin falling apart. Even in all this judgment the inhabitants of the earth still would not repent. This will remind us of the hearts of the Egyptians when God brought the plagues on them and they did not repent but their hearts became harder. The term inhabitants of the earth, is used over and over in Revelation for those who were ungodly see (3:10, 6:10, 8:13, 11:10 etc.) The christians were called dwellers in heaven even though they were on earth (12:12, 13:6). The eagle comes to create additional fear with the other judgments about to come.
I am so thankful that I am a child of God and am on the side of his mercy and grace rather than fighting against God and receiving his judgment. The Romans turned the world of the Christians upside down when they persecuted them. But that was nothing compared to when God turned the ungodly's world upside down. If one chooses to live an ungodly life it will be turned upside down usually here on earth but if not certainly in judgment. On that day I want to stand with God rather than against him.

I wouldnt want to stand up against God's wrath either. This chapter reminds me that while we have a loving God, he is also a just and vengeful God. We are all subject to his justice becasue we are all sinners. But thanks be to God for Jesus. Without him, there would be no hope for any of us. I am glad that i know i have him in my life and that he will be with me on that day.
